SEASON TWO FINALE

In the “old days” we watched television shows using the TV Guide to schedule screen time. Series seasons began in September and ended in May. And during the summer reruns were offered.

We have changed that pattern with streaming. Series are now produced and presented on no discernable schedule and can be 6 episodes, 8 episodes, 11 episodes or even 20 episodes. Then there is a hiatus of indeterminate length and when it is ready the new season begins. You can watch any show any time. And reruns are always available!

My first season of blogging, I spent a lot of time writing and editing in advance so that I had several months of weekly blogs ready before I began posting. I paid for a subscription to a program that would track my subscribers and provide a method of emailing reminders automatically each week. It even let me see how many people actually opened them (a feature I both appreciated and deeply regretted.) I began September 1 and ended August 31. I was structured.

Season Two began on more of a whim. I did not subscribe to Constant Contact to track and manage subscriptions or weekly announcements. I just texted or emailed you or let you find it yourself on Facebook. I did not begin September 1 but somewhere in the middle of the month. And I did not have several months of articles ready to post in advance.

While that should have provided a more relaxed blogging season, the lack of preparation meant I was suddenly facing publication deadlines like Lou Grant. (For those who aren’t old enough to remember, Lou Grant was a crusty but principled newspaper editor. Shows available for streaming on You Tube or for purchase through Prime Video.)

And so, the folder is empty and Season Two comes to a close.

If ridiculous things continue to happen in my life and based on my history I am supposing they will, I will write about them and save in the “in process file” until Season Three.

For those who love cliffhangers…

  • I expect to have knee surgery soon. Will I be able to learn how to use a walker with dignity? Will I binge-watch Lou Grant?
  • While on our Disney Cruise will Martin be able to talk me into a submarine ride? LOL. Will I decide to live forever on Mickey Island and refuse to return to reality?
  • Percy and his parents are making plans to return to Houston. And Evan is expecting a baby brother. Will there be enough hours for everyone to get their quota of baby time? Will there be a battle for the rocking chair at family gatherings?
So, as I enjoy my hiatus, I invite you to enjoy reruns. They are available at this link. (See below, or use the back arrow, or text me and I will help you find them!)

Season Three will drop…eventually. Release date unknown, chaos guaranteed. Because my life is not a series – it is a blooper reel.

  1. Constant Contact makes me nervous at the thought of it. You are a brave soul and I have enjoyed every word you have written. Letting go of it would give me relief except I know it is hard for you. Life changes constantly as I age so I understand this change. Love you.
